  When we got are Polish chicks we were sure they would be hens. But we did not know the sign on them ment thay were not sexed.  We didn't know we still had a 50/50 chance of getting a rooster. When we first moved them outside i started hearing a strange bird sound. I though it was just some bird that lived in the trees. 

  One day when i was outside i heard the sound but this time it sounded like it came from my chickens. I thought it came from one of our Polish. I heard it again and saw are Polish crowing. Then i knew it, we had roosters.

In Memory of Chicklet

  In April 2016 are chick Chicklet passed away.

She some how got her head tilted sideways.

Everytime we tryed to help her stand she was scared.

When we put here down she stumbeled,fell and ran in circles.

She coulden't drink her water becuse of the way her head tilted.

She could only eat her food.
Soon she would get dehydrated.

She would never be a normal chicken as she grew.

She was suffering and didn't like watching it.

We knew the right thing to do and brought her to someone to take her out of her misery.

January:Chicken fun!

                                        Chicken fun!

  We have seen people putting perches in their chicken coops or outside. We how the chickens enjoyed it,so we decided to make one too. By putting a piece of wood through the fence. Turns out are chickens love it! Here are some pictures I would like to share with you.

September:What happen to Chevron?

                             What happen to Chevron?

Swollen foot

 I was out one day and saw that Chevron was  limping I was worried. I looked at the foot he was limping on. I saw it was swollen on his  middle foot.   At first i thought it was something  called bumble foot on Chevron. I show my dad  to see what he thought it was he said it was not  bumble foot I was so reveled to hear that. 

 But as my dad looked at it he almost thought her  toe was broken cause it seemed lose. She was  still able to move and squeeze it so it was not  broken.

 We know it was hurting her because she did not  want to step on it. For now to leave her off her  foot a bit we put her in a different pen than the  others so she could lie down and stay off of it.

She has food ,and water and hay to nest in so she can make herself at home. I hoped for her to get better soon until than i will keep a good eye out 

 for her.

August: Where the Chickens Chill Out

Where the Chickens Chill Out 

Chickens love to dust bathe its one of my flocks favorite thing. When we had to level out ground to put in the up ground pool. We put all the dirt in a pile near the chicken coop. Now its where a lot love to chill out and cool down. I'm pretty sure they have a great time!
